Louisiana Diabetes Foundation is a non-profit Louisiana corporation and has 501(c)(3) non-profit status under the regulations permitted by the Internal Revenue Service. This will assist the mission of the foundation to engage in activities for the benefit of the association, activities which are permitted as an I.R.S charitable organization. Contributions given specifically for diabetes research are segregated in a trust fund for that purpose and not commingled with other receipts. Research funds are then transmitted to an I.R.S. approved research entity selected by the Foundation. At this time the
research beneficiary is the Pennington Bio-Medical Research Foundation, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

It is the foundation's opinion that commercial entities, having an interest in diabetes, which pay dues to the Louisiana Diabetes Foundation, may deduct the expenditure as an ordinary business expense. We suggest that you discuss each of these matters with your tax accountant if you have any question regarding your dues, or "fee for services" which may be provided to you by the foundation.
